Peter has worked in education for almost 25 years, having trained as both a Primary and Secondary Teacher. In that time, he has worked in various schools and organisations, his last appointment being Head of Christian Studies at an independent Christian school. Prior to that he worked within the Diocese at Youthworks as a Schools Ministry Adviser and prior to that at Broughton Anglican College, in both the Primary and Secondary Schools.
In his former role he was responsible for working alongside the school executive to develop and integrate education that was distinctly Christian, particularly in the Secondary school. He did this through the development of a new Christian Studies program, which sat alongside a new Pastoral Program. The overall aims of these two key areas in the life of the school were to develop a whole school approach to teaching, learning and the welfare of students, considering the needs of the whole child from within a Christian worldview and framework. His role incorporated the leadership of the school’s outdoor education program, elements of the student leadership program and the lunch time student group, along with working alongside the executive staff to assist in the professional development of staff and with the integration of the delivery of the pastoral program.
Peter is passionate about engaging people with the gospel and seeing lives transformed. He is excited in working alongside people as they seek to have a deep and lasting impact on the lives of people in their school communities, wanting to be able to enthuse and excite people with the value and opportunity of the teaching profession as ‘Kingdom’ work, as well as working to further develop education that is distinctly Christian in schools is something that he is dedicated to.
Peter is married to Karen and they have 4 children.
